I’m literally disgusted with myself for not writing about this season’s #1 trend: peplum. Leather is awesome obviously, but it’s a classic. Peplum is back on trend and definitely flattering for people who have a little bit of curve. Try a shorter peplum top with a high waist pencil skirt for a slimmer waist and more full hips. To slim down your silhouette, go for a dress with a peplum detail around the thinnest part of your waist in a solid color.
To amp the risk a bit, pair a leather peplum (Rebecca Taylor has a gorgeous one) top with your favorite dark skinnies (preferably Hudsons always) and Louboutins (need I say more) for a night out.
The peplum look can also be on the boho trend when paired with a solid color maxi skirt. Beware of skirts that are too full. You don’t want the part of the peplum that angles out to look like it angles out because of your massive hips underneath.
For a fashionable day at work, pair a peplum mini skirt in a bright hue (violet, emerald, red) with a neutral colored silk blouse and some kind of leather/snake skin/pleather sky high pumps in either a complementary color to the skirt for a color blocked look or a neutral tone to keep your style looking professional with that extra pop of flare.
If worth correctly and fit properly, peplum can actually slim the look of your hips with the dramatic A-line of the bottom part.
